No, we’re not talking about me, but about the old hemlock trunk floating vertically in Crater Lake. It’s been bobbing along since at least 1929 and today is a prized siting when visiting the lake. Those lucky enough to spot it during a boat tour can sit or stand on it like the old guy in the pic. As part of our outdoor focus, we’ll be visiting Crater Lake on Wednesday–though we’re unlikely to spot the Old Man from the rim. The bus leaves at 8 a.m. and returns around 5. Kids need to bring a sack lunch, snacks for the bus, layered clothing (it’ll be cold at the lake), and a great attitude.
The kids have a vocabulary exam on Friday, and this week we’re starting multi-digit multiplication in math class: Here’s the homework for this week: Monday, Oct. 21; Tuesday, Oct. 22; Thursday, Oct. 23 (Note that there’s no specific math assignment on Wednesday due to the field trip; students should study their multiplication facts or work on IXL instead). Students should also be reading from their Book Clubs every night. They’ll finish up next weekend.
Finally, special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Heppner, Mr. Borror, Mr. Figureroa, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Chubb, and Miss Icenhower for supervising our Harvest Fair booth.
