Here’s your Room 15 Update for September 16th. The important event this week is Back-to-School Night on Tuesday at 6:00. I encourage those new to Room 15 to attend my presentation beginning at 6:10. I’ll be available to chat with both new and returning parents at 6:30. You’ll also be able to meet our wonderful new student-teachers from Southern Oregon University, Mrs. Martins and Mrs. Aldaco.

Students this week will be taking their first vocabulary test on Friday. The words can be found here, but they words and definitions should be in your student’s binder (which they should be studying every night). Students completed their first mini-book clubs last Friday and will start a new one this Tuesday. On Monday night they should be reading for 20 minutes or more from a book of choice, but on Tuesday-Thursday they should be reading from their new book club and completing the reader’s guide. In math this week students will continue their study of Place Value. Here’s the homework: Monday, Sept. 17; Tuesday, Sept. 18; Wednesday, Sept 19; Thursday, Sept. 20. We’re also collecting Arrow Book Club orders this week–the due date is September 25th. Parents completing the order form on-line need to use the classroom code written on the student’s order form. We’re also still collecting contributions for our Roald Dahl Book Replacement Fund (some of which we can get through the book order). Finally, we’ll also be holding student-council elections later this week. Candidates must be prepared to give a speech on Thursday. See you at BTS Night!
