With just three weeks left of school, we’re trying to wrap up all our outstanding projects and cap the year with a host of fun activities. In fifth grade language arts, we’re completing our final book club (all done in class) and taking our final vocabulary exam (on Wednesday). You can find the words here. Now that state testing is finally concluded (whoo hoo!), the fifth graders will be heading back to the computer lab to type and post their excellent OMSI essays. Finally, we’re also desperately trying to carve out the time and space to finish recording our plays. You can listen to the students’ podcast of The Nose by clicking here, and with any luck the other two will be ready soon.
In 4th grade math, the kids are completing their study of fractions. Here’s the homework for this week: Monday, May 21st; Tuesday, May 22nd; Wednesday, May 23rd. The kids will take their last fractions quiz on Thursday of this week. Following Memorial Day, we’ll be trying our hand at long division, but our final homework sheet will be that of May 23rd.
Important events include Thursday’s DARE Day at Emigrant Lake for 5th graders and the Adopt-a-Street Clean-up for 4th graders. Friday is no school (a budget cut day) and Monday is Memorial Day. June 4th is our movie party and trip to Don Jones Water Park, and June 7th is the last day of school.
