It seems like just a few weeks ago I was meeting all my students for the first time, yet here we are already heading into Christmas vacation. As they say, time flies when you’re having fun–which must mean I have a great class.
This week my fifth grade Language Arts students will be writing “Perfect Paragraphs” based on family holiday traditions, working on their web pages, and continuing their Book Clubs (which must be finished by Monday the 12th). They also have a vocabulary test this Thursday (the word list can be found here).
Homeroom kids will be studying for their History Exam next week. They’ll be taking home study guides on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week, and they’ll be playing History Jeopardy on Monday and Tuesday of next week . Students have responded well to parent-teacher conversations about Assignment Calendars. All but two kids turned them in properly-completed last week. Let’s see if we can keep that up. Blank copies of the Assignment Calendar can be found here, on our “Basics” page. Upcoming special events include a Spirit Assembly and Sing-along on Wednesday the 14th, our second Hopkins Street Clean-up on the afternoon of the 14th, and a walking field trip to The Nutcracker performance at Crater on the 15th. Permissions slips go home on Monday the 5th. Have a great Christmas!
I’m sad I missed it!
