A special thanks to everyone who volunteered to cover the Room 15 Harvest Fair booth. The Harvest Fair is a significant contributor to the CPE environment, providing money for field trips, technology upgrades, and more. It also gives kids a chance to have some fun in their Halloween costumes.
Another big event is the Sams Valley Mini-Marathon. We’ll be holding the 37th running of the Mini-Marathon next Monday (on Halloween). Parents are welcome to attend as spectators, roadside volunteers, or walk/jog participants. The starting pistol will be fired at 9:30 in front of Sams Valley Elementary, 14235 Table Rock Road.
Our 4th grade math students did a great job on the place value chapter test. This week they’re jumping into multi-digit multiplication and calculator functions. Here’s the homework: Monday, October 24th; Tuesday, October 25th; Wednesday, October 26th; Thursday, October 27th. Reading class students are working on their class plays, which may or may not be presented next week, and building their web pages, where nearly all their work will be displayed. They also have a spelling test this Thursday. It covers the ten “challenge” words: lugubrious, pallid, morose, sulky, gelatinous, viscous, petrified, glum, ecstatic, and vibrant.
There’s no school this Friday, October 28th. Also, ever ask your child, “What did you do in school today?” and get the “Nothing,” answer? Well, you can find out what’s going on in class by following us on Twitter. Sign-up to follow the goings-on in Room 15 @dailyplatypus. The kids are still learning the ropes, but they’re trying to use complete sentences and correct punctuation to say positive things about what they’re doing n class throughout the day. Check it out!
Teewt teewt it’s twitter time! I love twitter because my mom won’t get mad!
