Each year since 1974 the Sams Valley Mini-Marathon has proven itself to be a fantastic event. Kids often reflect on it as being one of the most memorable moments of their elementary years. And why not? Picture nearly 700 fourth and fifth graders, all wearing their matching marathon t-shirts, running along the country roads of Sams Valley! It is an amazing sight. This year’s Mini-Marathon is set for October 29th. Because it is part of our PE curriculum, all District 6 fourth and fifth graders are expected to participate in the 3.1 mile walk/jog/run. However, a registration form is still required. Students who register and pay the $5 fee by the October 15th deadline will receive the newly designed Mini-Marathon t-shirt. Students will be allowed to register and pay after the 15th, but theywill not receive the shirt. Partial scholarships are available through each student’s PTO.
Registration forms go home on October 4th or 5th. The form is also available by clicking here.

I am excited but am tired just thinking about it. Because I have asthma and it’s hard for me to breath if I run too hard. 🙂
I’m very excited for the mini-marathon because the last time there was a mini-marathon I felt like staying home so I didn’t go. =D Kylie m
I love mini the marathon. I came in one hundred sixty-th place out of five hundred fourty something kids.
Actually, 650 kids exactly crossed the finish line, so 160th isn’t bad at all, Roger.
