In a world of texting, tweeting, and error-filled e-mails, it’s nice to know the basic sentence is alive and well at Central Point Elementary. CPE intermediate students work hard to craft a single “Super Sentence” every morning (in addition to all the other writing they do). This exercise reinforces sentence basics, introduces them to new tools (such as semi-colons and hyphens), and teaches them new structures (such as idioms and indirect quotations). I truly belive that teachers should have to participate in the morning run yet they should have to get 3or 4 laps see how they like it.
